からめ【辛め】

1 〔やや辛い･やや塩辛い〕 on the hot [spicy, salty, dry] side; somewhat hot [spicy, salty, dry]; hottish; salty.

●辛めにする, 辛めに味をつける make 《food》 (rather) hot [spicy, pungent, salty]

・弁当のおかずは何でもちょっと辛めにしておくとよい. It's a good idea to make the food that accompanies the rice in a lunch box on the salty side.

●辛めの味噌 (a) miso that is on the salty side; a salty miso

・カレーは辛めのほうが好き. I like curry on the hot side. | I like my curry rather hot.

●この料理は少し辛めだ. 〔辛い〕 This food is [tastes] rather spicy [hot]. | 〔塩辛い〕 This food is [tastes] a little salty.

2 〔やや厳しい〕 on the strict [harsh, severe] side.

●点を辛めにつける mark [grade] somewhat strictly; give rather strict assessments.

●あの先生はいつも点が辛めだ. That teacher always marks on the strict side [is always rather strict in his marking].
